Topic: Scaling Up for Floating Wind (Mooring & Anchor equipment)
As Floating Wind moves from the installation of prototypes to demonstration units, to industrial scale arrays, our industry is not just scaling up from 2MW turbines to 15+MW, the size of the resulting mooring equipment is also scaling up. The mooring chain commonly used for station keeping on an oil and gas asset is 76mm, whereas our floating offshore wind assets will require 220mm chain, the fibre rope will also be significantly larger, and the drag anchors are expected to be over three times larger.
Join Acteon for networking drinks while discussing how our industry is mitigating this scaling up and how it affects fabrication, delivery, onshore storage, vessel mobilisation, installation, and ongoing maintenance.
Speaker: Matthew Heyman, Business Development Executive, InterMoor (a brand in Acteon’s Moorings and Anchors segment)
